Yes, you should have known my first post would be about the great Brett Favre. As he has done for the last several seasons, the media should know by now that he will not go public with his decision until late July or early August. Is that a problem? Certainly not! We all know he has what it takes to make it through the seaon and do very well. The question would be, why would he come back? I will give you a few reasons you should expect to see Favre playing in the 2010 football season.
1. He had arguably the greatest season of his career in 2009.
He is just like any other person who does well, that is a motivator. I watched him last season and with each game he got better and he continued to build on his great season. He is not a quitter in the sense of reaching a goal. Let me explain. When he reaches expectations, he doesn't stop, he reaches higher for greatness. I believe he will return this season giving young NFL quaterbacks a run for their money. He will set the standard for 2010 and force the others to play great football.
2. Does anyone know what the record for most NFL season played by a single player is?
Morten Andersen, with 25 seasons and the NFL record for most games played at 382. Maybe it is a stretch to say he will remain to play 5 more years, but why not try? Right! I mean he met and surpassed anyones expectations in his career and will go down as one of, if not the greatest quaterback in NFL history, not to mention the Hall of Fame will be knocking on his door before he retires. Brett Favre will continue to push the limits as long as he is physically able. Most of us would die doing something we love. He would as well if his body would hold up. It is his passion and love for the game that continues to drive him. I would give anything for just a small amount of his drive and ambition to rub off on our society.
Again, these are my opinions based on my own research and findings. I will close by giving you a check you can take to the bank, you will see Brett Favre playing for the Vikings in the fall of 2010.

Alabama pulls a rabbit out of their hat!
Okay Tide fans, after watching the game last night, I have to say I was a little disappointed at the progress of the game. I didn't really want or expect to see a blow out but, I did however hope to see the Tide offense bring life to the off-season hype. I mean this with all do respect, but the only real thing the Hoakie defense had going for them was their run stop. They looked phenominal in the beginning against Alabama's Mark Ingram. We all know however that smashmouth football is designed to wear the defense down....it did just that and VT made some key mistakes.
As for our offense, for the first three quarter we looked like a joke. Other than a few breakout runs and a pass completion to Hanks, we really had nothing going. McElroy showed his inexperience with his forced throws and the inability to trust his front five to be able to protect him. To his credit this was the first game of the season and his first collegate start. All that to say he finally came around in the fourth quarter and became the leader he needed to be to bag the win. Julio Jones on the other hand suffered from his own issues. I did not see him drop that many balls all season last year and he comes into his first game of the season looking like a rookie. There were three passes for sure that he should have brought home that would have resulted in 3rd down conversions. He failed to do so and therefore we were forced to punt the ball.
Defensively we looked pretty sharp other than letting them put 24 points on the board. There were some defensive struggles and bone head moves that cost us a great deal of yardage which therefore resulted in points being put on the board for VT. I will say that I was not on that much of an emotional roller coaster during the 2008 season opener against Clemson. So what can we say? The tide is definitely learning what it means to close out a game rather than checking out at half time. What can we expect from the season as it progresses? I would say you can defintely expect McElroy to get more comfortable behind his line, which will result in him connecting with his receivers on a whole new level. If we are able to get the ball in the air and even the playing field, you will see many more explosive runs coming out of the backfield. We have phenominal talent that could give us another perfect regular season, IF they keep their heads about them and stay focused on the game while playing as a team. I now sign off with a huge ROLL TIDE ROLL! And thats.............

BCS vs. Playoff Series
So I was listening to the sports talk radio this morning and heard the guys talking about the BCS vs. a playoff series to determine the best NCAA football team in the nation. The first arguments was about this senator that apealed to the justice department that the NCAA had in some way violated some laws. Now this could be true, but, come on people! The government already has their hands in more things than they need to be and getting involved in college football is the last thing I want my government doing. I absolutely contest and disagree with any elected official getting involved or encouraging our government to get involved with this issue.
Now as for the argument of the BCS championship vs. a playoof. The BCS is crap! No matter which angle you look at it from, it is crap! I am a die hard Alabama fan and have been my entire life, but I truly belive there have been some teams robbed of a title shot due to the BCS way of determining a teams status. I speak of course about Auburn 2004 season. They went incredibly undefeated after Tubberville almost got fired at the end of the 2003 season. They were denied an opportunity at the title due to the BCS ranking system. We will never know who the better team was that year because of that. We know who the BCS system says was no. 1, but do we really care what the BCS system says, or do we want to know for sure. Next I think of the smaller named schools that have begun to contend in top ten spots over the past few seasons, upsetting the larger schools. They have not been able to contend for the title simply due to financial status and inability to bring big dollars to the BCS championship series.
Look at the NCAA basketball finals! How do they determine who the best team is? A playoff of course! We don't have to put 16 teams through for the playoff but if we allow the top 8 teams to play each other for an opportunity to play in the final championship game, I guarantee you the fan base will be much happier than they currently are. Is this the fix to all the problems? No! But it is a start to see who the best will actually be instead of all of these looming questions every year since we started using the BCS system. Again, even if the BCS was to place Alabama in the championship game every year, I would not be happy out there until they had a chance to truly deserve that spot based on their performance on the field. Sure I wanted Alabama to fo last year with a perfect regular season and Florida losing to Ole Miss, but let us be honest, Florida showed themselves to clearly be the dominant team in the SEC showdown. SO I am not complaining and Alabama clearly showed themselves as a team not really able to follow through, So even if they would have gone, chances are they would have been beat anyway. So that is where I stand on the issue and thats............

Livestrong Lance Armstrong
Here comes Lance again, is the Tour De France ready for this? Sure they are! Lance is one of the greatest cyclist to ever ride in the race and his seven straight titles should be proof enough of that. I can't help but think of Brett Farve when I see that Lance is coming back. Why? As a huge fan of Brett Farve from the day he went pro until..........., I believe he should have made his retirement final after his last great season with the Packers. I am also a huge fan of Lance as well and I mean what else does he have to prove to the world. If you like riding a bike that much just get on it and take a tour de your neighborhood. Again, not that he is not a legend in this race, but don't you want to leave it that way.
Have you ever heard the saying, "let sleeping dogs lye"! There is a reason, you start messing around with a sleeping dog and you are liable to get bit. The same thing could happen here to Lance and I just do not want to see that happen to him and his reputation. Could I be wrong? Sure I could, and to be quite honest, I hope that I am for his sake. Lance in my mind will always be a legend but others aren't quite so forgiving. I close with this, good luck to you Lance and I hope to see you walk away with another title. And thats my 2 cents!

Does Bama have it?
Does Bama have what it takes to get to the National Title game? In my honest opinion I think they absolutely have the talent to get there, the only thing that concerns me is their proven leadership on the field. I have no doubt that McElroy has the talent to make plays, but the season will tell if he is a proven leader. I think once again we will have to prove we are capable of doing it, in the SEC showdown with the Gators. And we can't take anything away from them! Even in the loss of Percy Harvin who did everything but play defense, they have a proven leader in Tim Tebow who has shown time and again that he can pull rabbits out of the hat. Tebow is strong both on the ground and in the air which makes him a double threat, but when you add his leadership ability, he becomes a triple threat to every team he plays.
Again, I think we definitely have the talent, but McElroy will have to show himself to be an outstanding leader in order to over come the Gators in the SEC showdown. Next I think we in the Saban nation have lived with this stigma of not being able to close things out very well, for many years. Can Nick break us out of that mentality? Well if last year was any idea of that, then I guess even his tremendous ability as a coach cannot break us free. I dearly hope that I am dead wrong about this, but we will see this year. The Tide has been noted as being a team who generally comes out ready to fight and then we just lay down for no apparent reason. We have to break free from this if we intend to become the program we once were. The great teams are never too far behind and fight to win. We have to do the same as well.

NCAA 2009 Football Preview
Who will come out on top? Well if you go based on what all of the other sources are saying, Florida is the dominating team at least for one more season. I agree, Tim Tebow is a phenominal player at worst. But can he carry the entire team? With Percy Harvin now playing in the NFL, who was by far one of the fastest players in college football, the Gators my find it tougher than they thought to come out on top this year. As we saw in the 2008 season, there were many surprises that unfolded as the season played out. Not to say Florida didn't deserve the National Title, but there were clearly some great teams there to contend for the title. Take Auburn for instance, they were hyped up for weeks prior to the season starting and how they would be a top 5 contender by end season, that turned out to be a joke, even for the Auburn fans. Alabama was expected to remain in the lower rankings of the top 25, but started the season out not even ranked in the top 25. Alabama showed a clear envigoration for showing people they were ready to contend for national title. But as the Tide proved once again, their lack of follow through proved to be detrimental to their chances of winning the national title.
Now as the 2009 season approaches, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC,VT make up your suspected top 5 to begin the season. Followed up by LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State to close out your top 10. This seems to be a somewhat diverse group of teams comapred to the start of last season where we had a mojority of the same teams we seeen over the past 5 years. College football seems to be getting back to the national competetiveness that we all want to see. Do we really want to see the same team win it year after year? Well, the fans of that team would probably say yes, but at what point do we say enough and begin looking for a tru competition. It is my opion that we now have that edge in NCAA football we have wanted to see for quite some time now. So I'll say this, the 2009 season belongs to anyone at this point and those teams that think they belong in the top 10 better look out for those teams that dream of being in the top 10. Drive, and heart will over come many obstacles!
So as of right now, I agree with all other sources that Florida clearly has the best leader on the field and teams can do amazing things behind great leaders. Florida will take home yet another National Championship under their belt, but they better be prepared for disappointment in the 2010 season. I will follow up with more info as I research other teams.
